William "Bill" Watson, 69, died Jan. 21, 2007, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Watson was born Jan. 1, 1938, in Viola, Ark., the son of Ray and Mildred Watson. He graduated from Hamburg High School in Hamburg, Ark.
He received his B.S. at the University of Arkansas at Monticello and his master's at Antioch University.
He coached and taught at CCISD in Corpus Christi Independent School District and for 36 years at Miller High School and Moody High School. For 10 years Bill was a high school basketball referee.
After retirement in 1995, Bill and Patsy traveled extensively with family and friends and enjoyed their cabin in north Arkansas for holidays and family reunions.
Watson was a sports enthusiast, an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, loved Hook's games and was a member of Coffee Club.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy; his daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Soward; his mother, Mildred of Dumas, Ark.; a sister, Sandy (Neal) Estes of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; grandchildren, Will, Kate and Sam Soward; mother-in-law, Sissie Rush of Hamburg; a cousin, Carl Ann (Charles) Hill of Cherokee Village; brothers-in-law, Jim (Joyce) Rush of Hamburg, Bob (Charlotte) Rush of Crossett, Ark.; several aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Watson; a son, Eddie Watson; and his father-in-law, Dude Rush.
A memorial service was held Jan. 24 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel in Texas.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Alexander, Joey Allen, Bill Callaway, Bill Graeber, John Groom, Buddy Merritt, Sam Weaver, Tom Younger and W.J. Stokley.
