WINNERS: Three Viola students represented Fulton County in the Sew With Cotton contest Nov. 30 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. Casey Akins, a senior, placed second in the sportswear division and earned a $250 prize; Makenzie Crow, a senior, placed first in the suit division and earned a $400 prize; and Kristin Montgomery, a sophomore, placed first in the dress division with a $400 prize. Montgomery also won the sweepstakes and was awarded a Bernina serger worth $400. The contestants designed and sewed a garment made of 100 percent cotton, and were judged based on construction, design and poise. The girls are students of Sarah Gleghorn's family and consumer sciences class at Viola High School. The competition was sponsored by the Arkansas Farm Bureau.
