Don H. Goins was born the son of Levi Goins and Nancy Jane Young Goins on April 8, 1917, in Myrtle, Mo. He died Dec. 13, 2006, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains at the age of 89.
He was united in marriage Nov. 26, 1938, in Alton to Margaret James.
Goins was a decorated veteran, proudly and bravely serving his country during World War II in the Army Infantry Division.
He was a Mason and a member of the Clifton Masonic Lodge 463 in Thayer. He was also a member of the DAV. He was a lifelong farmer and will be remembered for his sense of humor. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Myrtle for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home in Thayer; three children, Dulcie Couillard and fiancee, Earl Cullom, of St. Charles, Mo., Richard Goins and wife, Shelby, of Camdenton, Mo., and EmmaLea Skelley and husband, David, of Thayer; a special nephew raised in the home, Charlie Goins of Overland Park, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Greg Couillard and wife, Rebecca, of Ithaca, N.Y., Mark Couillard of St. Charles, Mo., Kelley Rogers and husband, Clayton of Camdenton, Mo., Karen McDonald and husband, James, of Springfield, Mo., Jennifer Crawford and husband, Heath, of Thayer, Jon Skelley and wife, DeLisa, of Foristell, Mo., and Sara Huffman and husband, Dave, of Thayer; seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Casey, Cameron, Kyla, Hanna, Aleigha and Dalton; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Michael Skelley; one son-in-law, Jim Couillard; four sisters, Ella Dotson, Vercie Williams, Beulah Hopper and Alta James; one brother, George Goins; one infant brother; and one infant sister.
