Zettie Bell Clayton Wade, 91, of Blytheville, Ark., died at her home on Jan. 21, 2007. She was born in Newcastle, Texas on March 18, 1915, the daughter of the late Clarence and Vernie Winfrey Clayton, formerly of Salem.
In 1934, she married Lowell Dee Wade and relocated to Blytheville to be a homemaker and mother for the remainder of her life. She was a member of the Main and 13th Street Church of Christ. In addition to raising her three children, she had a passion for gardening and spent her happiest hours working the soil and tending her flowers.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Wade Fleming and her husband Jesse of Blytheville; two sons, Jerry Dee Wade and his wife Betty of Blytheville, and Phillip Clayton Wade and his wife Andrea of Heber Springs; eight grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Ennis Clayton, Jack Clayton, Leroy Clayton and W.E. Clayton, formerly of Salem; and two sisters, Nell Everett and Lucille Collister.
The funeral services were held Jan. 23 in the Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville with Dr. Bruce Daniels officiating. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Cobb Funeral Home Inc. of Blytheville.
