AREA -- There will be a new look in the 37th Judicial District Jan. 1. The district includes Oregon, Howell, Shannon and Carter counties.
David Evans of West Plains is the new circuit judge replacing Richard Moore. Moore was appointed by Gov. Matt Blunt last year replacing Circuit Judge R. Jack Garrett who resigned because of health reasons.
Moore lost to Evans in the August primary.
Evans took 17,424 votes in the Nov. 7 election. He had no opponent.
In Oregon County Evans received 2,686 votes, in Howell County, 10,744, Shannon County, 2,227, and 1,567 votes in Carter County.
In Oregon County Associate Circuit Judge Jo Beth Prewitt was re-elected to her position with 3,106.
Evans said "I look forward to the challenges of the new position. I am committed to working hard with the other judges and court personnel in the circuit."
