James Junior Bixler, 79, of Mitchell, Ark., son of the late James Carl and Thena Ivy Jane (Mounce) Bixler, was born on April 14, 1927, at Salem, Mo. He died Nov. 6, 2006, at White River Health Care Center in Calico Rock.
He was united in marriage to Norma Pauline Hollabaugh on Feb. 28, 1947, at Los Angeles, Calif. He worked as a maintenance supervisor and he served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the New Viola Masonic Lodge 741 and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Bixler of Mitchell; two sons, Terry Bixler and wife Dianna of Mitchell, and James Michael Bixler of Signal Hill, Calif.; a daughter, Cheri Bixler Davis and Bub and William of Mitchell; six grandchildren, Terra Dockins, Shonna Duna-way, Christopher James Davis, Kyle Wayne Davis, Joleen Bixler and Jillian Bixler; four great-grandchildren, Kentessa Edmonston, Karlee Dockins, James Dockins and Lewis Dunaway; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John and Albert Bixler
Graveside services and burial were Nov. 11 at Mitchell Cemetery with Maxine Witt officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Terry Bixler, James Bixler, William Davis, Leroy Moore, Chris Davis, Kyle Davis, Howard Dunaway and Jason Crawford.
Memorials are preferred to the Mitchell Cemetery Association or the New Viola Masonic Lodge 741.
