Lloyd A. Roberts, of Bartlett, Tenn., formerly of Salem, son of the late Wirt Neal and Lucy Lenore (Full) Roberts, was born on Jan. 26, 1917, in Parkersburg, W.Va. He died Nov. 6, 2006, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., at the age of 89 years.
He was united in marriage to Emilia Sokolowski on Jan. 24, 1970. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
He retired in 1981, after 23-1/2 years of service from General Motors/BOC, Lansing, Mich., main plant building #40, tool room. He worked as machinist on a boring mill. He was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church, Gideon's International of Horseshoe Bend, and the United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 652, Lansing, Mich., serving as a shop steward.
Survivors include his wife, Emilia "Millie" Roberts of Bartlett, Tenn.; two daughters, Shirley Weirauch (Art) of Aurelius, Mich., and Jeannie Jones (Dick) of Rochester Hill, Mich.; one sister, Opal Shively (Bob) of Cuyohoga Falls, Ohio; six grandchildren, Tim Weirauch (Jan) of Dansville, Mich., Kathy Burton (Lance) of Bartlett, Tenn., David Weirauch (April) of Little Rock, Debbie Gaddie (Louie) of Aurelius, Mich., Jay Jones (Lisa) of Auburn Hills, Mich., and Joy Sykes (John) of Rochester Hills, Mich.; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and three brothers.
The funeral services were held Nov. 10 at the Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Ark., with Pastor John Hodges officiating. Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Pallbearers were Art Weirauch, Tim Weirauch, Lance Burton, Chris Weirauch, John Elliott and James Lairson.
