KOSHKONONG -- The annual veterans' salute will start Heritage Day activities at 10 a.m. Sept. 9 at the Koshkonong City Park.
The salute will be followed by political speeches by Koshkonong Mayor Bud Adams and state Rep. Mike Dethrow.
Starting at 11 a.m., the Howell Family, Carl Trantham, Dean VonAllmen and Friends and the school children from Koshkonong School will perform. The Civil War artillery firing will begin at 2 p.m. followed by Rhonda Spreutels singing.
The Hillbilly Olympics which will include men's wood splitting, a ladies' washing contest, hillbilly farmer relay and a tug of war at 3 p.m.
A pony pull is set to end the festival at 4 p.m.
Other activities scheduled for the day include: craft booths, school-sponsored booths, the Missouri Department of Conservation, a petting zoo, a chicken chase, a pet parade and a climbing rock booth.
Cowboy Rick Hamby and his traveling stagecoach will be at the festival.
Meals can be purchased at the park the day of the festival.
