James E. Sims, 79, of Hardy, Ark., died Jan. 15, 2008, in Springfield, Mo. He was born May 21, 1928, in Wardel, Mo., the son of George and Eva Sims.
He was united in marriage to Reba Denny on Jan. 10, 1946, and they just celebrated 62 years of marriage.
He was a former grocery store owner and had also worked as a meat cutter for many years before retiring.
He was a member of the Word of Life Tabernacle near Hardy.
He is survived by: his wife, Reba Sims of the home; two sons, Raymond Sims of Springfield, Mo., and Bruce Sims of West Plains, Mo.; two daughters, Sharon Newman of Nixa, Mo. and Bethany Sims of Hardy; three brothers, Harold Sims of Ash Flat, Charles Sims of Johnson City, Tenn., and George Sims of Ash Flat; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, George and Eva Sims; two brothers, Orville and Roy Sims; and one sister, Myrtle Defoe.
Funeral services were held Jan. 18 at the Word of Life Tabernacle near Hardy with burial following in the Eagle's Rest Cemetery on Highway 175 near Wirth, Ark. Bro. Mike Price and Bro. John LaFontaine officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Ark.
