OREGON COUNTY -- Oregon County Clerk Gary Hensley said last week absentee ballots are now available for the Aug. 8 primary election. He said to receive one by mail, an application must be received in his office no later than 4 p.m. Aug 2.
He said applying early will make sure the process is done in plenty of time for the ballot to be mailed to the voter and returned to his office by election day.
Hensley said his office will be open for absentee voting Aug. 6 from 8 a.m. until noon.
Absentee ballots may be cast in person at his office on the first floor of the Oregon County Courthouse until 5 p.m. Aug. 7. He said absentee ballots may also be requested by fax at 417-778-7488.
Hensley said the new voter ID law that requires photo identification when voting will not go into effect until after the August primary. He said voters should be aware it will become mandatory for the November election.
