Alan Ray Smolder, 18, of Williford, Ark., died July 5, 2006, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
He was born July 10, 1987, in Jonesboro, Ark. He graduated from the Williford High School in May.
He was a member of the Chess Club while in school and was very active on the Williford Senior Boys Basketball Team.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hardy.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Janetta and Carey Fortune of Williford; his father, Raymond Keith Smolder; three brothers, Keith Daniels of Ash Flat, Raymond Smolder of El Paso, Texas, and C.J. Fortune of Hardy; three sisters, Brandi Fortune of Clinton, Tenn., Heather Fortune of Three Rivers, Mich., and Brittany Smolder of Trumann; two nieces, Cloie and Ally Daniels both of Ash Flat; and his grandparents, Carolyn Sullivan of Jonesboro, Pat and Ed Utley of Highland and Linda Zapata of Trumann; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Ray Zapata and Stonewall Sullivan.
Funeral services were held July 9, 2006, at 2 p .m. at the Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland with Dr. Larry Kendrick officiating. Burial followed in the Baker Cemetery near Hardy.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Ark.
