Lively Thornton of Salem, daughter of the late George Daniel Persfull and Ada Elzabeth Vandergriff Persfull, was born May 19, 1908, in Pocahontas, Ark.
She died July 2, 2006, at Fulton County Nursing Home in Salem at the age of 98.
She was united in marriage to Willie Thornton on March 17, 1926.
She was a homemaker and she helped her husband on the family farm. She was saved in 1952 and was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her nieces, Dorothy Albertine and husband Robert of Nesbest, Miss., Pat Piper of Olive Branch, Miss., Sue Farris of Memphis, Tenn., Doris Springer of Atlanta, Ga., and Virginia Grant of Russellville, Ark.; nephew, Bill Thornton of Orlando, Fla.; 11 great-nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a niece, Ruby Dean; a nephew, Lester Junior Thornton; four sisters; one brother; and her father and mother.
Services were held July 6 at Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem with burial following in Salem Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
