Webber is new city clerk

Wednesday, May 16, 2007

THAYER -- Missy Webber has been hired as Thayer City Clerk.

She is a 1986 graduate of Thayer High School. She has been married since 1988 to Thayer High School Football Coach Billy Webber. The couple has three children.

Webber has worked as the municipal court clerk in the city the past seven years.

She said although her new position will be challenging, she is looking forward to learning her duties. She said fellow city workers, tax collector Janice Tolar and office worker Cindy Callahan, have both been very helpful during the transition into her new position.

As city clerk, Webber will be responsible for many duties regarding the running of the city.

Some of her duties will include preparing all city elections. She will also be responsible for a six month financial statement and will prepare all city licenses.

She is the city's general bookkeeper and record keeper. She will also be responsible for keeping the minutes at Thayer City Council meetings.

"I'm looking forward to working with the mayor and the aldermen and serving the citizens of Thayer," Webber said.

Mayor Merle Williams said "Missy is working hard to learn the city clerk's job. There is a lot to learn. She is working well with the other ladies in the office to make sure the office runs efficiently."
