Paul Caldwell, was born the son of William Thomas Caldwell and Ethel V. Roy Caldwell on July 25, 1916, in Billmore, Mo., and died May 3, 2007, at his home near Thayer, Mo., at the age of 90.

He was united in marriage on May 22, 1937, at Alton, Mo., to Ledith Mae Mills who preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2000.

He began his many careers at an early age spanning total of nine decades.

He was a lifelong farmer and well known electrician. He was a charter member of the Alton FFA?Chapter and enjoyed raising and showing Duroc hogs and polled Hereford cattle.

He served as County Road Commissioner and was instrumental in the building of OO Highway North of Thayer.

He also worked in the construction of the Alaska-Canada Highway, known as the Alcan Highway. For a period of time he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp in Ogden, Utah.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a past member of the Odd Fellow Lodge. He was a faithful member of Thayer Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by; three children, Phillip D. Caldwell of West Plains,?Mo., Ledith Mothersill and husband, Allen of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Joe Dan Caldwell of West ?Plains, Mo.; five grandchildren, Mary Naifeh of Tulsa, ?Okla., Greg Siekawitch of Anchorage, Alaska, Roger and Mark Taylor of Kansas City, Mo., and Ashley Jo Elliott of West Plains, Mo.; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Willard Caldwell of Thayer, J.C. Caldwell and wife Freda of Thayer, and Bob Caldwell and wife, Shirley of Thayer; several nieces; nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Ledith Mae; one sister, Mary Alice Evelyn Caldwell; and five brothers, Wesley, Waymon, Roy Lee, Warren and Darrell Caldwell.

The funeral services were held May 7 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Glen Murray and Richard Robinson officiating. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements by Carter Funeral Home.
