A Tennessee man was arrested after allegedly firing a gun while intoxicated and causing damage to property on the Spring River.
Sept. 9 Jeffrey Cox of Cordova, Tenn., was charged with criminal mischief and his weapons were confiscated by Fulton County Deputy Scott Holloway.
Holloway said he was called out by Howard Baswell of Saddler Falls. Baswell informed the deputy that there had been repeated gun shots fired near his home and that at approximately 4:30 p.m. there was a small explosion on his property.
Holloway said Cox admitted to having consumed three beers and was about to start his fourth when the alleged incident occured. When Holloway further questioned the suspect, Cox said he was shooting at a tree, adding, "I guess I missed."
