MYRTLE -- The South Central Solid Waste Management District will hold free household hazardous waste collections Oct. 14 at Myrtle.
District Director Lynda Rohel said the collection will be from 9 a.m. to noon.
She said only households will be eligible to bring their waste to the collection site. No business waste will be accepted the day of the waste collection and no containers larger than five gallons will be accepted.
She said oil based and latex paint will be collected and well as aerosol cans. Used motor oil, antifreeze, rechargeable batteries, vehicle batteries, as well as pesticides and herbicide will be accepted at the collection site.
Rohel said the district holds hazardous waste collection sites as well as used tire collections several times a year throughout the seven-county district and the residents of all seven counties are invited to participate in the collection when it is held near their community.
