Floyd Edwin Baker, age 79, of Hardy died Sept. 2, 2006, at his home.
He was born August 8, 1927, in Hardy, the son of Harve and Florence Baker.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army.
He retired from the Ozark Acres Land Company as a water superintendent after 28 years of service. He recently retired after serving 37 years on the board of directors of the North Arkansas Electric Cooperatives. He was a member and deacon at the New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Anna Marie Baker; one daughter, Linda Slayton and husband Danny of Hardy; one granddaughter, Amanda Slayton of Little Rock; one grandson, Aaron Slayton and wife Sarah of Cherokee Village; one brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Mary Lou Baker of Collierville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harve and Florence Baker.
Funeral services were held at New Hope Baptist Church on Sept. 5 with Rev. Ken Gore and Bro. Tom O'Neal officiating.
Burial followed in the Baker Cemetery at Williford.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Heath Funeral Home of Hardy.
Pallbearers were Dowl Thomas, Charles Cooper, Tommy Morgan, Billy Smart, Bill Qualls and Danny Cruse.
Honorary pallbearers included members of the board of directors of North Arkansas Electric Cooperatives.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider the Legacy Hospice of Salem or Arkansas Children's Hospital of Little Rock.
