Council deals with traffic ordinances

Thursday, November 30, 2006

THAYER -- Two ordinances, one amended and one new, were read for the first time by Thayer City Attorney Jerri Caskey at the Nov. 14 Thayer City Council meeting.

Both ordinances dealt with traffic laws.

The new ordinance, 1000, is a traffic violation ordinance entitled "where to drive on roadways." It deals with how a vehicle should be parked in the city and which side of the road a vehicle should be driven on.

The amended ordinance, 999, pertains to careful driving in the city limits. It deals with safety issues pertaining to driving in the city.

The second reading of both ordinances will be at the December council meeting.

The council reviewed three bids on the city electrical shed that is to be built in the Thayer Industrial Park. No decision was made on the bids.

The council accepted the low bid of $2,636 from Ed Roehe Safety for prisoner transport restraints and the low bid of $7,600 from Martin Electric for transport video equipment.

The council approved $7,080 for departmental supplies for the month of November.
