Bates transported to prison

ALTON -- An Alton man, Travis Bates, 23, was transported to the Missouri Department of Correction Feb. 4 after being sentenced by Judge David Evans on a probation violation.

Evans sentenced Bates to three years in prison.

The probation violation stems from an incident in December 2006 when Bates was charged with receiving stolen property.

A report from the Oregon County Sheriff's Department said the stolen property was two shotguns, a Remington 870 stolen from Tommy Williams and a Mossburg 20, stolen from Bruce Burgess.
