James Oscar Ballard, 68, of Ash Flat, died June 3, 20906, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Noland, Ark., the son of the late Woodrow and Viola (Smith) Ballard. He was raised in the Hardy and Highland area. He was a cattle farmer, a member of the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association and was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include his wife, Clayta Maureen (Rogers) Ballard of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Rickey Mills of Ash Flat; three sisters, Bonnie VanRoos and Sue Klinge, both of Rockford, Ill., and Lois VanBlaricom of Middleton, Wis.; several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Ballard and Viola Fuller; his material special grandmother, Cena Smith; one son, Kevin James Ballard; a brother, Gene Ballard and one sister, Patsy Bunting.
Funeral services were held June 5 at Highland First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Tim Turner and Royce Rogers officiating. Burial followed in the Wiles Cemetery at Ash Flat with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Gary Rogers, Rex Nicholson, Mitchell Rogers, Clint Wiles, Martin Carpenter and Mike Nix.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Robert Walton, Tommy Garner, Cleatus Bailey, Glen Bailey and his nephews
