Joan Marie Stemen, of Sturkie, Ark., daughter of Eva Lucille Marchetto and the late Michael Marchetto, was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio.
She died June 9, 2006 at her home in Sturkie at the age of 68.
She was united in marriage to Danny Lee Stemen on Jan. 26, 1957, at Toledo, and to this union two daughters were born.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a homemaker and worked as a computer keypunch operator for Galveston, Inc.
Stemen was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Plains, Mo.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Smith of Sturkie, and Laurie Stemen-Barber of Sturkie; her mother, Eva Marchetto of Northwood, Ohio; two brothers, Michael Marchetto of Northwood, Ohio and Mark Marchetto also of Northwood; two sisters, Judy Mason of Petersburg, Mich., and Janet Extine of Montgomery, Mich.; five grandchildren Jason Smith, Brody Smith, Haley Barber, Lauren Barber and Alyssa Barber and one great granddaughter, Madelyn Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband and father.
Memorial services were held June 15 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with the Rev. John W. Gerloch officiating.
The funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
