Wednesday, April 12, 2006

MAMMOTH SPRING -- Mammoth Spring Mayor Jean Pace told the Mammoth Spring City Council at their April 3 meeting, the city recently received a new leaf vacuum. Pace said she wrote a grant application through the White River Solid Waste District for the vacuum.

The cost of the vacuum was $20,000. She said the city received a grant for $15,000 and the city has to pay only $5,000 for the new piece of equipment.

The mayor said she also just completed a grant application to the White River Solid Waste District for a new dump truck. She told the council she was applying for $25,000 to buy the truck. She said if the grant becomes a reality the city will pay 25 percent of the cost of the truck.

She said a grant had just been submitted to Tree City USA for $1,000 to purchase a new tree trimmer for the city.

The mayor told the council that Bob Simers' term on the Mammoth Spring Housing Board had expired. The council voted unanimously to re-appoint Simers for a 3-year term.
