The Horseshoe Bend Finance Committee met Aug. 16. Mayor Spear reported that the city received $18,739.43 in sales tax during July. He also reported that the Water Department had experienced well pump failures during the last month. Mayor Spear has instructed the police department to begin removing all signs around town that are in the road right-of-way.
Al Comen, representing the Planning Commission, reported that he had received updated information from ADEQ and the Outdoor Furnace Manufacturers Association and that proposed Ordinance 2006-04 has been amended to comply. The committee approved the changes and the ordinance will be presented at the August city council meeting for first reading.
Mayor Spear reported that the fire chief of Oxford told him they can no longer hold classes for NIMS. The test will need to be taken on-line. Computers in City Hall will be made available for officials and employees to take the test.
Members of the Friends of the Library appeared with a revised annual budget and the request that the city council include those expenses in the 2007 city budget so that ownership of the building can be turned over to the city. They were advised to meet with the mayor and recorder/ treasurer in October when budget preparations will begin.
