THAYER -- Thayer alumni activities are set for homecoming weekend Oct. 13-14.
Activities will start with the homecoming parade Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. in downtown Thayer.
From 4-7 p.m. a tailgate party will be held at the football field. Alumni spokesman Billy Minney said John Wrenfrow will supply the barbecued ribs and pulled pork sandwiches, including baked beans, slaw and chips for the tailgate party.
The Bobcat Booster Club will also have hamburgers and chips to purchase before and during the game. The Thayer Mammoth-Spring Rotary Club will have a concession stand also open during the game. Mooney said the proceeds from the concession stand are turned over to the school at the end of the football season.
At 6 p.m. the queen candidates and attendants will be introduced at the football field. The 2006 Thayer High School homecoming queen will be crowned.
At 6:55 p.m. the booster club will set off fireworks as the Bobcats take the field.
The homecoming game will start at 7 p.m. with the Bobcats facing the Willow Springs Bears.
After the game there will be a reception for all alumni at the Thayer Elementary School Cafeteria. A mini-buffet will be furnished and all Bobcat alumni are invited to come and socialize.
Class reunions are scheduled during the day Oct. 14.
At 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14, the homecoming banquet will be at Thayer High School. Local alumni planning to attend are asked to bring a covered dish.
Mooney said this is the time of year for alumni to pay their dues. They can be paid at the football game or any other alumni activity. Dues are $10 a year. The dues go toward a $500 scholarship and alumni sponsored homecoming activities.
Alumni who will be recognized at this year's homecoming activities will be from the Bobcat graduating classes of 1931 through 2001 in five-year increments.
"The Thayer people are looking forward to seeing their friends from faraway places," Mooney said.
