Gregory Lee Meskimen, 50, of Olive Branch, Miss., died Sept. 29, 2006, at his home.
He was born Jan. 13, 1956, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Leland and Yvonne Meskimen. He attended schools in Clarinda, Iowa, and Batesville, Ark., graduating from Batesville High School in 1975.
From 1975 to 1976 he attended Ankeny Junior College in Ankeny, Iowa, specializing in diesel mechanics. He worked in this field until 1984 when he joined the U.S. Army.
He was a veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged in January 1994. He continued to work in the diesel maintenance field, working for Roadway Express in Memphis, Tenn., from 1998 to 2006. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 667.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, G.L. and Alice Meskimen of Coin, Iowa, and Harry and Hazel Michel of Northboro, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife Donna, daughter Meghan, and son Kristopher, all of the home; his parents, Leland and Yvonne Meskimen of Cave City; brothers Tim Tritsch and wife Pam of Kalamazoo, Mich., Terry Tritsch and wife Leslie of Pontotoc, Miss., Ted Tritsch of Earlham, Iowa, Mark Meskimen and wife Pat of Newark, Ark., and Kurt Meskimen and wife Carol of Cave City; sister, Kristi Thompson of Batesville; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City Oct. 3 with Bro. Ron Canard officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery east of Cave City, with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Tim Tritsch, Terry Tritsch, Ted Tritsch, Mark Meskimen, Kurt Meskimen and Billy Foster.
Honorary pallbearers were Terry Rowley, Don Stewart, Wayne Harris, Larry Young, Tommy Brown, Bob Mericer, Kirk Shaw and Mark Hopper.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis.
