Captain T (Tom Hunnicutt) of Williford is known as a professional martial artist and a former Marine who proved himself in combat in defense of our nation twice.
He has recently finished writing the first historic volume of five that concerns Marine Corps special intelligence units.
Now another unique part to his life has taken off. He writes and sings folk music, and on July 28 he was informed by New Christian Music promoters in England that he has two songs on the charts in Europe and the United Kingdom.
What is truly unique about much of his music, is it is about Arkansas. No other writer/singer since the late Jimmy Driftwood has written such songs. Therefore, it should not come as surprise to find Hunnicutt perform at the Jimmy Driftwood Barn in Mountain View.
The two songs that were released a few months ago on a CD titled The Arkansas Years -- Part Two are: "My Ozark Mountain Home," which is number 2, and "An Old Time Preacher," which is number 26 on the New Christian Music country chart. In addition, "My Ozark Mountain Home" is number 3 on the NCM European chart, which takes in all of Europe and Australia. "An Old Time Preacher" came in at 45 on that chart. An earlier song off the same CD "The Craighead County Jail," went to number 3 on the NCM Country Chart and 7 on the NCM European Chart back in April.
Cathy Drew, executive director of the Ozark Gateway Tourist Council, recently wrote, "Our association, Ozark Gateway Tourism Council, has been honored to have him play for one of our annual meetings. He is a jewel and his music is sure to be a big hit with the world."
Captain T, also known as Arkansas' Folk Music Ambassador, is touching many hearts and minds of folks around the world, which means Arkansas is being seen a unique place to live and vacation. Fans can buy or review his musical CDs by visiting CD Baby on the Internet (cdbaby.com/cd/captmusic).
