Elsie Marie Brown of Mammoth Spring, Ark., was born Sept. 21, 1919, in Koshkonong, Mo., the daughter of the late Jess Brazeal and Leatha Vaughn Brazeal. She died May 15, 2008, at her home in Mammoth Spring, Ark., at the age of 88.
She was united in marriage to Eli Brown who preceded her in death.
She was a retired garment factory worker and former chairperson for the Ladies International Garment Workers Union.
She was a member of the Mammoth Spring Garden Club for 32 years and served on the Mammoth Spring City Council for several years.
She is survived by: one daughter, Betty Bauerle and husband, Leo of Corder, Mo.; two sons, Sonny Brown and wife, Jan of Mammoth Spring, and Michael Brown and wife, Tami of Mammoth Spring; three grandchildren, Michael Brown, Ashley Brown and Autumn Brown; one brother, Lee Brazeal of Koshkonong; two sisters-in-law, Jenny Brazeal of Koshkonong, and Mary Brazeal of DeQueen, Ark.; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Jess and Leatha Brazeal; her husband, Eli Brown; four brothers, Ernest, Earl, Roy and Norman Brazeal; and two sisters, Lydia Howell and Vida Gray.
Funeral services were held May 19 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Rev. Jimmy Lemonds officiating.
Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
