Pate takes high point award at district track meet

Bethany Pate, a freshman at Salem High School, competed in the 3A-1 East Junior High District Track meet, which was held at the Mountain Home High School on May 5.

Pate took home the Junior Girls' High Point Award. She competed in six events, including the long jump, triple jump, 200-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 4X400-meter relay and 4X100-meter relay. Pate took first place in all of those events except long jump, placing second in that event.

In the relay events, her teammates included Callen Curtis, Courtney Falco, Meredith Tyree, Summer Moss and Whitney Rose. The Greyhounds placed third overall in the district meet.

Pate, then competed at the 3A-1 East Senior High District Track meet and qualified for the Class 3A State Track Meet by winning second in the 100-meter dash and second in the 4X100-meter relay.

Also competing at the Class 3A State Track Meet in Prescott from Salem were Curtis, Moss, Tyree and Falco in girls' competition, along with Jason Huff, Dallas Holt, Forest Rose, Daniel Lance, Jeremy Lance, Clint Ray and Nick Turnbough.

Falco came in fourth in the 2-mile run at the state meet, while Rose finished eighth in the mile.
