Thursday, May 29, 2008

OREGON COUNTY -- Alton Librarian Janice Richardson announced last week, the Oregon County Library District will be having a Summer Reading Program.

"The theme for this year's reading program will be Catch The Reading Bug," she said.

She said the summer reading program is open to young people, preschool through young adults. "This summer we will be discovering the amazing world of insects with several different programs," Richardson said.

The Alton Public Library branch will be presenting magician Teresa T. at 10 a.m., June 2, at the Alton Elementary Multipurpose room. Richardson said Teresa T. will host a lively magical show encouraging children to read and visit their local libraries during the summer months.

"Grubs, Slugs, Magical Bugs has been specifically produced for the Catch the Reading Bug summer reading program. Magicianess Teresa T. will combine magic and illusions with loveable creepy crawlies," she said.

Richardson said everyone will be involved as cute insects join her in her presentation.

"There will be lively music, audience participation and professional magic," she said.

She said on June 16, at 12:30 p.m., Ronald McDonald will be presenting a program also at the Alton Elementary Multipurpose room.

All programs are free to the public and she encourages all parents and children to attend.
