A trio of area standouts on the softball diamond will have one more chance to shine.
Highland's Whitney Crook, Izard County's Trace Grinnell and Melbourne's Olivia Morris have all been selected to participate in the annual Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star Softball game at the Lady Back Yard on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.
The players will suit up for the East All-Stars, coached by Dell Leonard from Mountain Home.
All three players made it to the state tournament with their respective teams this season, and Crook will be making her second appearance at Lady Back Yard in the past month. Crook was part of the Highland Lady Rebels team that made it all the way to the Class 4A state finals before falling to Ashdown in the championship contest.
Grinnell's Lady Cougars, semi-finalists from a year ago, earned a spot in the Elite Eight this year in the Class 1A tourney. Morris' Lady Bearkatz squad fell in the first round of the Class 1A State Tournament, after making it all the way to the finals at Lady Back Yard last season, where they were stopped by Greers Ferry in the title game.
