Grizzly Golf Classic set to tee

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Area golfers will want to get their golf gear in order so they can participate in the 13th annual Grizzly Golf Classic tournament June 13 at the West Plains Country Club.

The annual event is sponsored by the Grizzly Booster Club.

The format will be a three-person-scramble and will raise funds to support team travel, student-athlete recruitment and other vital needs of the basketball and volleyball programs, as well as the new men's and women's club golf teams, at Missouri State University-West Plains, organizers said.

Those attending will receive a free evening meal, as well as a Grizzly golf shirt, cap, golf towel and golf balls.

Prizes will be awarded to tournament winners and given to those who hit the most accurate drive, the longest putt, closest to the pin and a hole-in-one on designated holes.

Check-in time for the event is 11:30 a.m.

The tournament will get underway at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start.

Entry fees are $150 per person or $450 per team.

Carts can be reserved for $25 each.

For more information or to obtain an entry form, contact Dr. Herb Lunday, Dean of Student Services, at 417-255-7255.
