William D. "Bill" Hancock, 81, of Evening Shade, Ark., died May 28, 2008, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark. He was born June 15, 1926, at Ulm, Ark., to William Marcus and Mary McKinzie Hancock.
He was a retired plumber and a member of the Sidney Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Hancock of the home; one son, William D. Hancock II of Bailey, N.C.; two daughters, Charlotte Gail Terbot of Cave City and Ruth Annette Bramlett-Oha of Reva, Va.; six grandchildren, Mary Beth Tipton of Evening Shade, William D. Hancock III of Raleigh, N.C., Monieca Gail Marshall of Cave City, Wayne Robert Hancock of Bailey, N.C., Marcala Tyann Tucker of Southside and Marjorie Jamie Paugh of Colorado Springs, Colo. nine great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and four brothers, Marcus Hancock Jr., John D. Hancock, James Porter Hancock and Vonda Ray Hancock.
Funeral services were held May 31 at the Sidney Baptist Church located at Sidney. Burial followed in the Maxville Cemetery located north of Cave City with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
