Bernice Cantrell was born Feb. 24, 1918, at Myrtle, Mo., the daughter of W.H. Wisehart and Ora Harbison Wisehart and died June 3, 2008, in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 90.
She was united in marriage Feb. 11, 1937, in Thayer, Mo., to Virgil Cantrell, who preceded her in death Jan. 13, 2001.
She is survived by: four children, Leo Cantrell and wife, Wilma of Okeechobee, Fla., Sam Cantrell of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Paula Miller and husband, Bob of Koshkonong, Mo., and Stacey Cowen and husband, Randy of Koshkon-ong; a nephew, Gary Sutton; eight grandchildren, Stanley Cantrell, Diana Cantrell, Jeremy Cantrell, Jennifer Higgins Brian Miller and wife, Rebecca, Dana Jackson and husband, Kenneth, Derek Cowen and wife, Elizabeth and Brittany Hunter and husband, Carl; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eulah Payne of West Plains, Mo., Lucy Hyman of Albany, Ga., Dr. Mary Ruth Wisehart of Nashville, Tenn.; and Lavern Clark of Thayer; two special people in her life, Ron and Sheila Campbell of Alton; nieces; nephews other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Virgil Cantrell; one son, Ricky Cantrell and two sisters, Eunice Wisehart and Marie Sutton.
Funeral services were held June 7 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Bro. Richard Robinson and Bro. Andy Rains officiating. Burial followed in the Myrtle Cemetery at Myrtle, Mo., with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
