Delcie Mae Volner

Delcie Mae Volner, daughter of the late William and Lilly (Baney) Skaggs, was born on Dec. 6, 1917, near Cabool, Mo., in the Bendavis Community, and died on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at her daughter's residence in Viola, Ark., at the age of 90 years.

Delcie grew up in Texas County and was united in marriage to Lon Harvey Volner on May 29, 1937, in Bendavis, Mo. Seventeen children were born to this union. They made their home in Texas and Wright Counties for many years.

At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter in Viola for the past two years. She and Harvey were happily married for over sixty years. Mr. Volner passed away on March 3, 1998.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; two sons; one daughter; five grandsons; two granddaughters; five brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by: seven sons, Robert Volner of Harlem, Ga., Roy Volner of Hartville, Mo., Bill Volner of Fox, Ark., Jessie Volner of Bogalusa, La., Lynn Volner of Mtn. View, Mo., Hubert Volner of Hartville, and Eddie Volner of Mtn. View; seven daughters, Margie Ruth Foster of Viola, Ark., Judy Richmond of Doniphan, Mo., Faye Parsons of Mtn. View, Reta Young of Hartshorn, Mo., Naomi Perkins of Mtn. View, Irene Stallsworth of Arnold, Mo., and Patsy Stallsworth of Mtn. View; three brothers, Jack Skaggs of Mansfield, Mo., Lawrence Skaggs of Cabool, Mo., and Phillip Skaggs of St. Louis, Mo.; 47 grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; 51 step-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; eight step-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 31, in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Kerry Legget officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers were James Volner and Jesse Young. Burial was in the Murr Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Mo.
