MAMMOTH SPRING -- Mammoth Spring School Superintendent Ron Taylor is inviting students in the area to attend school at Mammoth Spring.

"The Arkansas Public Schools Act of 1989 allows parents to choose the school their child attends, regardless of where they live, and we feel like the Mammoth Spring School District is the right choice," Taylor said.

He said since school has been out this spring, six students from outside the school district, two from Salem and four from Highland, have already signed-up to attend school at Mammoth Spring this fall. He said 20 students from outside the district will be returning to the Mammoth Spring School District under the Arkansas Public School Choice Act.

Taylor had several reasons why he would choose his district over any other.

Taylor said extracurricular activities at the school include: FFA, FACS, FBLA, Health Occupations Students of America, Quiz Bowl, Beta, Honor Society, basketball, baseball, softball, golf, Student Council and Bears Against Drugs (BAD).

"Mammoth Spring Schools provides free school day accident insurance for every student. Our district also continues to make adequate yearly progress under No Child Left Behind," he said.

Taylor said Freedom of Choice forms for the 2008-09 school year are available at the school administration offices and must be submitted to his office by July 1.

He said bus routes may be established to accommodate transfer students.
