On June 5, the wind blew at over 30 mph when the Spring River senior softballers squared off against Jonesboro.
This was a very close game, tied several times.
In the top half of the seventh inning, Spring River scored five runs to go ahead in what looked like a win. Jonesboro, however, was not finished and hit the ball well to come up with six runs to win the game 19-18.
Pat LaFaye had some great plays at short and Dan Hedrington made a major league catch in short right field.
In game two Trumann scored early but Spring River kept pace.
The Spring River defense held tight, stopping several scoring chances led by Pat LaFaye at short and Joe Bonds, Dan Keylor and Rick Comer in the outfield.
Spring River won 15-6. Manager Gary Bacon again praised the effort of the team in both games.
Herb Hess pitched both games and helped himself out with his batting.
