Flossie L. Cheek, of Salem, Ark., daughter of the late Andrew Jefferson Keeter and Mittie Stokes Keeter, was born Feb. 24, 1922, in Georges Creek, Ark. She died June 9, 2008, at Eagle Crest Nursing Home in Ash Flat at the age of 86.
She was united in marriage to Arnold Cheek July 29, 1939, in Marion County, Ark. To this union, five children were born.
She was employed by the Ben Franklin store in Salem for a few years and she and her husband owned and operated Clear-Vue Farms for many years. She was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church.
She is survived by: her daughters, Betty Roork and husband, Sam, of Salem and Sandy Harmon and husband, James, of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Melissa McCandlis, Michael Roork, John Cheek, Quanna Cheek, Kittina Cheek and Jacily Harmon; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Laverl Cheek of Searcy, Ark., and George "Chester" Cavanes of Batesville; a sister-in-law, Bernice Keeter of Yakima, Wash.; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; three children, Jackie, June and Wayne Cheek; four brothers; one sister; and her father and mother.
Funeral services were held June 11 at the Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem with burial following in the Salem Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
