Edna Charlene Cain, 79, of Independence, Mo., died May 30, 2008, at Centerpoint Medical Center. She was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Fulton County, Ark., to Charles and Dora (Lau) Fuller.
She married Preston L. Cain in 1946, and they have lived in the Kansas City area for the last 61 years, moving to Independence in 1955.
She was employed at Montgomery Ward and Company for 27 years, retiring in 1984.
She had a second retirement from the Jones Store-Blue Ridge Mall in 2003.
She attended Central Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by: her husband, Preston Lavern Cain of the home; three children, Preston Cain Jr. (Stephanie) of Gladstone, Donald Cain (Kerry) of Kansas City, Carol Kelley of Independence; her sister, Freda Tucker of Gladstone; five grandchildren, Rhonda Atkinson, Brendan Kelley, Drew Kelley, Whitney Cain, and Jacob Cain; and two great-grandchildren, Donald Atkinson and Bailey Atkinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and a granddaughter, Megan.
Funeral services were held at Floral Hills June 3 with burial following in the Floral Hills Cemetery.
