A 54-year-old Cherokee Village man received serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash five miles south of West Plains on Highway 63 June 21.
Scott E. Palmer was traveling south on Highway 63 on his 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle when a northbound 1997 Chevrolet pickup driven by 59-year-old Randall G. Collins of Sikeston, Mo., attempted to turn left into a private drive and turned into Palmer's path, according to a report by Cpl. E.W. Mann of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The wreck occurred around 5:30 p.m.
Palmer was transported to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains by ambulance and was then transferred to St. John's in Springfield by AirEvac, the report said. Palmer's motorcycle was totalled. It was towed from the scene.
Collins received minor injuries and did not require ambulance transport to the local hospital, the report said. The pickup was driven from the scene.
Collins was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. Palmer was wearing a helmet and Collins was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision, the report said.
