Mabel Lily Davis was born Nov. 1, 1909, in Norwood, Mo., the daughter of the late James Hurtt and Annis Allen Hurtt. She died June 20, 2008, in Thayer, Mo., at the age of 98.
She was married Feb. 14, 1926, in Pilot, Ark., to William L. Davis, who preceded her in death in 1939. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ.
She is survived by: two daughters, Willa White and husband, Jim of Rogers, Ark., and Margie Collins of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Wanda Davis and Frances Davis, both of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; one sister, Goldie Johnson of Harrison, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Mary Riggs of Thayer, Mo.; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; three sons, Howard, Fred and T.R. Davis; two grandsons, Butch Davis and Jack Collins; one son-in-law, Clarence Collins; one daughter-in-law, Ginny Davis; five brothers Elzie, Roy, Arvel, Cecil and Virgle Hurtt; and four sisters, Altie, Evie, Thelma and Gladys.
Funeral services were held June 23 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Lee Moses officiating. Burial followed in the Moten Cemetery near Mammoth Spring, with the arrangements by Carter Funeral Home.
