Local shooter Devon Melbourne signed a letter of intent with shooting sports powerhouse, Lindenwood University, recently.
Lindenwood University has five collegiate National Shooting Championships.
This past April, Melbourne went to San Antonio to shoot in the Collegiate Nationals representing Ozarka College, where he was a student.
Melbourne was shooting against colleges such as Lindenwood University, Texas A&M, Missouri State and Kentucky, to name just a few.
Melbourne came in 12th against the 36 schools represented with a single man shooter.
Not too long after returning from the collegiate nationals, this 2007 Highland High School Rebel and employee of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative started receiving scholarship offers.
Melbourne chose what he thought was the best college to shoot for in hopes of adding a National Collegiate Championship to his many state titles.
This past week, Melbourne went to the Arkansas State Shoot where he came out of the junior divison, and for the first time shot in the men's division.
He took the high overall in 400 targets where he left only two targets unbroken.
Also, he took high all-around in the 800 targets.
Melbourne is the number one shooter in the state of Arkansas out of the 250 shooters at this event.
