Whites celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
Tom and Ruth White of Cherokee Village, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 28. Their children will host a private dinner in July.
Ruth Mary Rubel and Thomas Peter Wojckiewitz were married on June 28, 1958, in Chicago, Ill. They lived in Chicago and surrounding suburbs until the early 70's. They made Cary, Ill., their home from 1973 through 1993, where their children attended school.
Tom is a self-made entrepreneur, who currently owns and operates American DP Racing Decals, a mail order and e-mail business he started in Cary in the early 80's. He is a die-hard Cubs fan and plays tennis, golf and bowling.
Ruth also co-owns and operates their business, American DP. She loves to read, sing and play gin rummy with her grandkids. She's a member of the Cherokee Village Garden Club.
They moved to Cherokee Village in 1993 to semi retire.
They have four children, Tammy (Don) Shoevlin of Roscoe, Ill., John (Julie) White of Wonder Lake, Ill., Tim (Michelle) White of Fox Lake, Ill., and Tracey (Brian) Pitts of Roscoe, Ill.
They have 15 grandchildren, Michelle, Kelly (Brian), Stephen, Laura, Jenny, Joe, Jamie, Jessie, Mandy, Dakota, Adam, Bobby, Collin, Debbie, Eli and one great-grandchild, Dylan.
