Ella Pauline (MA) Branscum, 84, of Ash Flat, Ark., daughter of the late William Albine and Flora Carlos (Bristow) Nix, was born Jan. 8, 1924, at Ash Flat, Ark. She died June 26, 2008, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
She was united in marriage to George Garland Branscum on Nov. 23, 1942, at Ash Flat, Ark. She worked as a cook for the Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by: her husband, George Garland Branscum of Ash Flat; two sons, Raymond Branscum of Ash Flat and Gary Branscum and wife, Lenisa, of Salem, Ark.; a daughter, Carolyn Sisney of Ash Flat; a brother, Billy Ray Nix and wife, Alice, of Ash Flat; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; special friends, Mick and Lou Mickle; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Buddy Nix; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Sisney.
Funeral services were held June 28 at the Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment was in the Wiles Cemetery at Ash Flat, Ark., under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Pallbearers were Gene Moore, Justin Branscum, Zach Branscum, Scott Branscum, Tim Branscum and Allen Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Carter, Jared Jones, Whitney Jones, Greg Branscum, Hanna Ward, Michelle Ward, Lindsay Patterson, Jim Cruse, Coady Sanders, Raymond Trent, Rick Saunders, Douglas Herron, Charlie Willett and J.V. Ellis.
Memorials preferred to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
