The Salem Chamber of Commerce July 4th Fireworks In The Park celebration at the Salem City Park is right around the corner and this year will be the biggest fireworks display yet. The park is located on Highway 62/412 in Salem.
According to Salem Chamber of Commerce president Greg Crews, vendors can set up anytime of the day and patrons should begin to arrive around 4 p.m. Crews said the day will be packed with fun and food while the fireworks show will start at nightfall.
"This has started out as a fairly small event and has grown, and continues to grow. It will be a picnic type environment with hot dogs, watermelon, popsicles, sodas, water, potato chips, all donated from area businesses and free of charge," Crews said. "All these items are free to the public."
"The show should last a couple of hours or so. I have been told it is going to be a bigger show than it was last year. They put a few new items into it every year for us," he said.
The Salem Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual event and according to Crews it is a great way to promote Salem and draw attention to local businesses.
"It is just a really good way to let people come in. I have been at several fireworks shows in various communities in the past and this show is second to none. It really does draw in a big crowd. It is a big savings on gas too," Crews said.
