The Izard County Sheriff's Department received a BOLO (be on the lookout) Saturday, June 28 for a vehicle whose occupants had been immediately involved in an armed robbery of a Paragould drug store. The license plate number of the vehicle was provided and information was further developed that the vehicle could possibly be that of a couple living in Violet Hill.
Chief Investigator Charles Melton proceeded to Violet Hill where the vehicle was spotted and obtained the physical address of the occupants. A search warrant was immediately prepared and executed resulting in the arrest of Dennis William Destefano, 43, and Jennifer F. Destefano, 31, both of HC 82, Violet Hill where a large quantity of schedule narcotics, approximately 1,500 pills were found.
Also seized was a pellet gun that may have been used in the robbery.
The Destefanos are on an investigative hold for the Paragould Police Department and will likely face additional charges in Izard County to include possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said the couple's young daughter was turned over to the Department of Human Services.
