David F. "Pug" Kunkel, 79, of Cave City, Ark., died July 7, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 26, 1928, at Evening Shade, Ark., the son of John Edward and Alta Kunkel.
He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service, drove a school bus for the Cave City School District for 13 years and was a farmer.
Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Virginia "Tootsie" Kunkel of the home; one son, David Kunkel of Cave City; two daughters, Sue Parrish and Jo Watson both of Cave City; five grandchildren, Thomas Broughton, Robbie Watson, Aaron Watson, Brittany Parrish and Keith Kunkel all of Cave City; one great-grandchild; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Robert Kunkel, John Kunkel and an infant brother; and three sisters, Carmel Henning, Lela Kunkel and Edna Kunkel.
A private burial was held July 8 at the Maxville Cemetery located north of Cave City with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were David Kunkel, Robert Watson, Robbie Watson, Thomas Broughton, Aaron Watson and Keith Kunkel.
