Jewell David (Joe) Maguffee, 82, son of the late Joseph Henry and Bessie Lee (Land) Maguffee, was born Nov. 2, 1925, at Salem, Ark. He died July 7, 2008, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark.
He was united in marriage to Fern C. (Grooms) Reed on June 22, 1998, at Lake Tahoe, Nev. He worked as a sheet metal worker for Industrial Heat and Air before retirement.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles in Flint, Mich.
He is survived by: his wife, Fern Maguffee of Salem; four sons, Henry Maguffee and wife, Annette of Alexandria, Ala., Thomas Maguffee and wife, Theresa of Swartz Creek, Mich., Larry Kozuh and wife, Arlene of Sacramento, Calif., and Derry Reed and wife, Pam of Salem; two daughters, RaKaye Reed of Bandon, Ore., and Tiffany Ogle and husband Junior of Oxford, Ark.; a niece, Betty McClure of Hardy; three nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife Iona Maguffee; second wife, Lois Maguffee; three brothers, Edward, Billy and Jack Maguffee; and his sister, Carrie Huett.
Funeral services were held July 10 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. Ken DeShane officiating. Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were Sonny Maguffee, Royce McClure, George Walling, John McClure, Kevin Sparks and Michael Lehr.
Memorials preferred to the Salem Assembly of God Church.
