Earl Nelson Graham, son of the late Nels August and Caroline Margaret (Erickson) Graham, was born Oct. 9, 1918, at Chicago, Ill. He died July 7, 2008, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark., at the age of 89.
He was united in marriage to Jean Mary Riley on Sept. 29, 1945, at Chicago, Ill. He worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone until retirement.
Earl served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion for 60 years, currently with Post 344 of Horseshoe Bend, Ark. He was also a member of the Tel Pioneers of America, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 2254 of Aklaun, Ill., the IBEW Local 165 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3431 of Horseshoe Bend.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He is survived by: special family, Anna Shaw, Michael Strauser and family, Kathryn Criswell and family and Carolyn and Tyler West; special friend, Irene Van Dyke; many long time friends; and his companion Marty.
He was preceded in death by: his wife; parents; and his brother, Raymond Dean Graham.
Funeral services were held July 9 at the Barker's Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel in Horseshoe Bend with Pastor David Tews officiating. Interment followed in the Evening Shadows Memorial Park at Horseshoe Bend with arrangements under the direction of Barker's Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
Pallbearers were American Legion 344 of Horseshoe Bend.
Memorials preferred to the Arkansas Sheriff's Association Boys and Girls Ranch at Hardy, Ark.
