Marilyn Rose Nicodemus Bickel, 75, died July 1, 2008, at her home in Horseshoe Bend, Ark. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, April 19, 1933, to Arthur and Sophia Nicodemus.
She lived in Des Moines, Iowa, until 1988 when she retired from Federal Home Loan Bank and moved to Horseshoe Bend. After moving, she worked at city hall for many years. She was a member of Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church, Altar Guild, LWML Guild and was a volunteer at Horseshoe Bend Library.
She is survived by: her husband of 37 years, Darrell "Pete" Bickel; sons, Randy, Rick (Terry) Brose, and Darrell "Speedy" (Patti) Bickel; daughters, Sandy Blackford and Jackie (Dave) O'Neal; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Donna) and Charles "Chuck" (Donna) Nicodemus; a sister, Carolyn (Lester) Matlage; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her brother, Arthur; and a son, Scott Bickel.
Services were held July 18 at The Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church in Horseshoe Bend. Burial occurred at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Orilla, Iowa.
