Jeffery Wade Southard, 34, of Little Rock, the son of Jackie and Mickey Southard of Glencoe, was found dead in his bedroom July 12, after an apparent argument with his roommate.
Roommate, Donald Haire, 31, was arrested driving a white Cadillac STS less then 12 hours after Southard's body was found. A gun and drugs were also located in Haire's vehicle.
According to Little Rock authorities, the two roommates worked together as private contractors in the siding industry. The report said the two men were arguing over wages when they began struggling over a handgun at which time Haire shot Southard, police said.
A female resident at the southwest Little Rock mobile home park where the two men lived, said she noticed Southard's mobile home door was open around 8 a.m., and after seeing it remain open for an extended period of time she went inside to investigate, police said.
The woman said she discovered Southard's body on the bedroom floor.
Haire was taken into custody just before 8 p.m. Saturday evening without a struggle, authorities said.
Police charged Haire with capital murder, aggravated robbery, theft, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a prohibited firearm.
A sawed-off shotgun was discovered in Haire's trunk along with a quantity of marijuana.
Haire was being held without bond in the Pulaski County Jail.
